Copy score methodology

Each manager gets a headline copy score (0–100%) for how closely their squad tracks a matched FPL creator across the selected gameweeks. That number ranks the league table. Transfer timing, captain copy, and transfer overlap are extra forensic signals — combined into a separate commissioner “Blend” score, not the main ranking.

Headline copy score (ranking)

0–100

Weekly squad similarity vs the best-matching creator: Jaccard on the full 15-man squad (55 pts), same captain (+18), vice (+5), formation (+10), and starter overlap (up to +12). Averaged across scanned gameweeks. Wildcard / Free Hit weeks are excluded from the average.

Transfer timing (forensics)

Whether they bought/sold a player the matched creator had already moved in the prior 1–3 gameweeks — a “trailing” signal. Shown in commissioner Blend; not the league table rank.

Captain copy index (forensics)

How often their captain matched the closest creator week over week. Sidecar forensic signal.

Transfer overlap + forensic blend

Blend 45/20/20/15

Exact same-week transfer overlap is a sidecar. Commissioner “Blend” combines squad score (45%) + transfer timing (20%) + captain copy (20%) + transfer overlap (15%) for deeper forensics — separate from headline rank.

Verdict bands

  • 70%+Heavy copycat
  • 50–69%Moderate overlap
  • Below 50%Independent manager

Wildcard and Free Hit weeks are excluded from the average copy score (still shown on weekly breakdowns). Stability scores flag low-transfer “set and forget” managers. Scores are forensic estimates — not proof of cheating.

Data sources

All manager and league data comes from the official Fantasy Premier League API. Creator templates are built from publicly known FPL entry IDs maintained in our creator database. Copycat Detective is an independent tool — not affiliated with the Premier League or FPL.
